What I think and feel never really mattered.
We just had an out-of-town trip with my family last week so we just thought of celebrating this year’s Valentine’s day with a simple dinner somewhere quiet. And preferably near our offices so it wouldn’t be a hassle to find a parking space. We were choosing between Relish and Ponticello, both in Salcedo village and conveniently within walking distance from our offices.

Guess which resto won? Hehe. This is our good friend’s favorite restaurant, and we had a nice lunch here last year. Fortunately Relish has Valentine’s dinner packages (5-course menu: appetizer, soup, salad, main and dessert) from Feb 13-15. We got the 850 per head package, great for our budget and diet (uhmm yeah right hahaha).

Appetizer: Crispy wanton wrappers, topped with Gourmet Pesto Cheese, Salmon Tartare and Wild Truffle Mushroom. Three pieces each, just about right to warm up our taste buds.

Soup: Mushroom Bisque. I am not really a fan of mushrooms, but this soup is really, really good! Actually, this immediately topped my list of favorite soups.

Salad: Crisp romaine salad, with bits of bacon, croutons and parmesan cheese. I am more into balsamic vinaigrette for dressings, but I was able to finish this nonetheless. Cesar dressing makes me feel bloated, and true enough I felt too full after.

Main Course: It was a good thing that the main courses were served several minutes later, which gave us some time to rest from all the eating and for our tummies to start digesting what we had so far. Hahaha.
Benedict chose the Beef Salpicao and I chose the Relish Roast Chicken. We both loved it! The beef was tender and juicy, with just enough garlic and mushrooms. The half chicken was roasted to perfection, with the meat almost falling-off the bones.

Desserts: Our favorite part! We chose the Mango Float and Moist Chocolate Cake. Both are not too sweet, just the way we like it.

Verdict: Four thumbs up! Look at the smiles in our faces. We decided to stop calorie counting at least for one night. =)) Relish is perfect for special ocassions like this one. :)
